Flower time in November

30th Oct 2023

As the warmer months approach in Tasmania, it's time to infuse your garden with bursts of color that mirror the vibrant energy of the season. One of the most captivating additions you can make to your garden is the Hydrangea, which is known for its stunning and diverse range of colours. This week, we're welcoming our first delivery of Hydrangeas, featuring a variety with some of the deepest burgundy flowers you'll find in any Hydrangea. From spring through to autumn, this fiery beauty will ignite your garden with its rousing red display, culminating in an exotic dusky mulberry. Let your senses run wild and free as we explore the wonders of this passionate and romantic plant.

November annual colour

We can also add colour to the garden in November by planting Petunia, Zinnia, Portulacas, and Marigolds in frost-free Tasmanian regions, which promises a vibrant Christmas display. For shaded, well-drained spots, consider the delicate flowering Impatiens which can be planted in frost free gardens, pots or hanging baskets. With thoughtful planting and care, these annuals will establish themselves beautifully, creating a festive display to be enjoyed throughout the holiday season.

The Beauty of perennial Salvia

Our shelves are now adorned with the vibrant hues of perennial salvias, and we're particularly excited to introduce the stunning Salvia Amethyst. This magnificent plant is a sun lover, unfurling its blossoms from late winter right through to autumn. With its versatility, it's perfect for cottage gardens, perennial borders, and for creating swathes of color that dance in the breeze.

Salvia Amethyst

Salvia Amethyst is a jewel in any garden. This perennial variety is known for its striking violet-blue blossoms that add a touch of regal elegance to your outdoor space. It thrives in full sun, soaking up the rays to produce a profusion of blooms that will captivate you from season to season. Its hardiness also makes it a wonderful choice for areas prone to drought, making it a reliable and low-maintenance addition to any garden.

A Drought-Hardy Visual Feast

In a world where water conservation is becoming increasingly vital, choosing plants that can withstand drought conditions is a responsible and environmentally-friendly decision. Salvia Amethyst is a champion in this regard. Its ability to thrive with minimal water makes it a fantastic choice for gardens in regions where water may be scarce. With its stunning display of amethyst-colored blossoms, this plant proves that sustainability and beauty can indeed coexist.

Planting for Impact

One of the most exciting aspects of Salvia Amethyst is its versatility in garden design. Whether you're aiming for a charming cottage garden or a more structured perennial border, this plant effortlessly adapts to its surroundings. Plant it in groups or create a river of color by planting in swathes, and watch as your garden transforms into a haven of natural beauty and tranquility.
