Description
A medium to large orange fruit with a juicy soft orange flesh. Moorpark has excellent flavour and is considered the best apricot for flavour. A good, fairly regular bearer, which tends to ripen from the stone out. Well recommended for cooler areas. Excellent for fresh fruit, jam, drying, stewing and juice.
Pollination: Self-fertile, although planting with another apricot variety can improve yields.
Harvest: January
Best Uses: Fresh eating, bottling, jams, drying, cooking and preserving
Position: Full sun in well-drained soil
Why We Love It: Moorpark is often considered the benchmark for apricot flavour. The fruit is large, sweet and aromatic, perfect for eating straight from the tree. Grafted onto a dwarfing rootstock, it remains more compact than a standard apricot, making pruning, netting and harvesting much easier while still producing generous crops of delicious fruit.
