Description
A dwarf form of the traditional heritage Damson plum, producing small oval fruit with deep blue-purple skin and firm golden-green flesh. Damsons are renowned for their rich, tangy flavour and exceptionally high natural pectin, making them one of the finest plums for cooking, preserving and homemade jams.
Pollination: Self-fertile. An excellent pollinator for many other European plums although another compatible European plum can improve fruit set and increase yields.
Harvest: March
Best Uses: Jams, jellies, sauces, bottling, baking, preserves and liqueurs.
Position: Full sun in well-drained soil.
Why We Love It: Dwarf Damson is a must-have for gardeners who love making their own preserves. The fruit's distinctive sweet-tart flavour intensifies beautifully when cooked, producing outstanding jams, sauces and desserts with a depth of flavour unmatched by most plums. Well suited to Tasmania's cool climate, the compact tree is easy to prune, net and harvest while producing generous crops year after year.
