Description

A classic European pear producing large, elongated fruit with distinctive cinnamon-brown russeted skin and creamy white flesh. Beurré Bosc is renowned for its exceptionally sweet, aromatic flavour and smooth, buttery texture, making it one of the world's finest dessert pears.

Pollination: Partially self-fertile. For heavier and more reliable crops, plant with Williams, Packham's Triumph, Nijisseiki (20th Century),  Shinseiki or another compatible pear flowering at the same time.

Harvest: March or April

Best Uses: Fresh eating, cheese platters, poaching, baking, bottling and preserving.

Position: Full sun in well-drained soil.

Why We Love It: Beurré Bosc is prized for its rich, buttery flesh and outstanding flavour that becomes even sweeter as the fruit ripens. The elegant, russeted fruit stores exceptionally well and is equally delicious eaten fresh or gently poached. Tasmania's cool climate helps develop its complex sweetness and fine texture, while the tree produces reliable crops of premium-quality pears year after year.
