A classic heritage apricot producing large golden-orange fruit with sweet, juicy flesh and exceptional flavour. Moorpark has long been prized for its reliable cropping and versatility in the kitchen, making it a favourite for home orchards. While vigorous and productive, it performs best in areas with good air circulation and may be susceptible to fungal diseases in wet conditions.
Pollination: Self-fertile, although planting with another apricot variety can improve yields.
Harvest: January to February
Best Uses: Fresh eating, bottling, jams, drying, cooking and preserving
Position: Full sun in well-drained soil
Why We Love It: Moorpark is often considered the benchmark for apricot flavour. The fruit is large, sweet and aromatic, perfect for eating straight from the tree or preserving for year-round enjoyment. Its beautiful spring blossom is an added bonus in the home garden.
