A dwarf form of the popular Japanese plum, producing large, heart-shaped fruit with deep purple-red skin and rich crimson-red flesh. Mariposa is renowned for its exceptionally sweet, juicy flavour, striking flesh colour and outstanding eating quality, making it one of the finest plums for home gardens.
Pollination: Partially self-fertile. For heavier and more reliable crops, plant with Santa Rosa, Satsuma, Elephant Heart or another compatible Japanese plum flowering at the same time.
Harvest: February
Best Uses: Fresh eating, fruit platters, desserts, jams, baking and preserving.
Position: Full sun in well-drained soil.
