Description
A dwarf form of the popular European plum, producing medium-sized fruit with attractive purple-blue skin and firm golden-yellow flesh. Sugar Plum is renowned for its exceptionally sweet flavour, reliable cropping and excellent eating quality, making it a wonderful addition to home orchards.
Pollination: Partially self-fertile. For heavier and more reliable crops, plant with Prune d'Agen, Damson, Green Gage or another compatible European plum flowering at the same time.
Harvest: March
Best Uses: Fresh eating, desserts, bottling, jams, baking and preserving.
Position: Full sun in well-drained soil.
Why We Love It: Dwarf Sugar Plum produces beautifully sweet fruit with rich flavour and firm, juicy flesh. The fruit is delicious eaten straight from the tree and equally suited to preserving or baking. Tasmania's cool climate helps develop exceptional sweetness and colour, while the compact tree makes pruning, netting and harvesting much easier. An excellent choice for gardeners wanting premium-quality European plums in a smaller space.
